As a biological concept, an adult animal or human is one that has completely grown. If used in conjunction with humans, the term "adult" may mean something related to legal or social notions. In contrast to a person who is that isn't considered an adult, or "minor" an legal adult is a person who has reached the age of majority that makes them independent, capable, and responsible. An adult who is legally mature can be called a major. 18 years is considered as the age of legal maturity, but the definition of adulthood can vary by country, legal rights or the development of a person's psychological.

If a person attains full physical and intellectual maturity this is known as adulthood. Adulthood is typically thought of as beginning at the age of 20 or 21. Middle age, commencing approximately 40 years of age then follows by the age of 60 years old. The beginning of adulthood occurs between the years of between 18 and 30. The middle age stage begins from between the mid-30s and 60s. Later adulthood is when we reach the middle of 60s. When we reach early adulthood, our body has reached the fullest physical maturation. However, our height and our weight can rise. In young adulthood our physical capabilities are at their best such as the strength of our muscles, our reaction speed, sensory abilities, and heart function.
